National Receptionists Day Judy Jackson with Cristo Rey High School Intern

May 8 is National Receptionists’ Day, so we met up with Judy Jackson, the first person you meet when you visit our HQ in Dallas. Manager of first impressions at Wingstop for six years, she has welcomed visitors at the front counter while proving herself a valuable asset to the entire team. This fashionista loves the brand! Besides her passion for our flavor, she reinvents our branded swag into customized creations that could make any super fan envious. But Judy’s greatest talent isn’t her sewing; she is an expert with people.

“Realize that people are people, and we have to remember that sometimes they’re going through something.” – Judy Jackson

Judy is excellent at reading people and tailors her interaction to each person that walks through the door. Describing how she helps our mission of “Serving the World Flavor,” Judy recognizes that some people need her to be Mild; others are slightly spicier and more like Hickory Smoked BBQ. Thankfully, she hasn’t met an Atomic yet, but she’s ready for that situation either way.

“Realize that people are people, and we have to remember that sometimes they’re going through something,” she said. “Don’t take things personal. At the end of the day, own your own attitude and don’t take it home with you.”

Judy started at Wingstop with a temporary assignment. At that time, it wasn’t common practice for us to permanently hire temps after their assignments concluded. But Judy proved herself, and the team fought for her to stay on. She watched as the company grew from 500 restaurants to the more than 1,250 we have in 2019. During that time, she rose as a team member with an impact across the brand and in all departments.

“Judy has truly been an invaluable resource for the Wingstop organization and myself. She possesses an authentic personality and genuine appreciation for everyone in the office,” said Brian Martinez, Wingstop’s manager of office operations. “As the manager of first impressions, she serves her own great flavor to everyone she meets on a daily basis.”

“I distinctly remember meeting Judy before interviewing with Wingstop about a year ago. She was, and still is, inviting, genuine and open,” said Morgan Best, internal communications specialist. “Judy embodies the Wingstop brand, and her first impression on me set Wingstop apart as the place to be. She continues to have an impact in my work and I’m so grateful we have her in our office.”

Judy’s passion for the brand translates into how she strives to make herself a resource to others in the company. She does whatever she can to help, eager to continue her growth in all areas of Wingstop. Thankful for Wingstop’s vision for charity – in the form of Wingstop Charities – Judy is also passionate about giving back. Described as the “Mama Bear” for our Cristo Rey College Prep student workers, she affectionately calls them her babies and enjoys being there for them in whatever they need. She helps them find relevant projects around the office, and she always makes herself available if they just need to talk about anything on their mind. Her impact on these incredible young people is undeniable.

Join us in celebrating Judy and her excellent work at Wingstop and in wishing her a happy National Receptionists’ Day!
