We take pride in our team members’ hard work and skills, but we also want to share what we know with the next generation of workers. That’s one of the reasons why we partnered with the local private school, Cristo Rey Dallas College Preparatory School. Hiring their high school students as corporate student workers has been a fantastic opportunity for us to offer relevant job experience in the fun and fast-paced environment of Wingstop HQ. Typically, we only get the chance to work with them through the school year, but this summer we had the pleasure of hosting a recent graduate back to the office.
Meet Raymond Cardenas, our latest summer intern
One of our recent student workers, Raymond Cardenas, graduated from the Cristo Rey Corporate Work Study Program this June. However, it seems that he just couldn’t get enough of the valuable lessons and real world experience our office offers. Having returned as a summer intern, Raymond has worked with accounting on various projects such as working with Excel, keying invoices, performing administrative duties, working on cash paid-outs and more.

This summer, Raymond got the chance to work alongside Arnedra Cook, our superhero accounts payable specialist. Raymond was eager to continue to expand his knowledge and experience, so getting the chance to work with her after spending the school year learning mostly from Carla McKinney, senior accountant, and Josh Jimison, staff accountant, provided a new horizon of experiences for him.
Raymond lives in Mesquite, Texas, with his three younger brothers. He was in the first class of Cristo Rey Dallas, and completed his four years with a huge splash. After his internship, he will be starting an apprenticeship at Cummings Electrical in Fort Worth, Texas. He’s excited for his future career path and is eager to continue to learn and grow every day. We can’t wait to see what he accomplishes next!
Cristo Rey Dallas and Wingstop Charities
Cristo Rey Dallas is a private, independent high school comprised entirely of students with limited financial resources. It works with the students not only to prepare them for higher education, but for the real world through their innovative Corporate Work Study Program.
A partner of Cristo Rey Dallas, Wingstop works with the school in more ways than just the work study program. In fact, the founding president of Cristo Rey Dallas, Kelby Woodard, is on Wingstop Charities’ board, which even provided a free wing lunch from the Wingstop Truck earlier this year. Wingstop Charities’ mission is to “engage our youth in the pursuit of their passions” in four key areas: education, arts, sports and career, fitting perfectly with what the school is all about.
